Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers can be a great option to update your keys. You can choose from a variety of styles and colors to find the one that best suits your personality. You can install them yourself in just ten minutes. You only need a screwdriver and some patience. The first step is to remove the original cover. The original cover must be removed before the replacement cover can be put in place.
After removing the old cover You can then use a flathead for prying the four major attachment clips off the passenger side of fob assembly. These are marked with red on the photo below. Also note the locating tab slots shown in yellow that need to be disengaged as well.
After removing the battery, replace it with a new # CR2032 3 volt coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery is pointing to the opening of the fob, and that the"-" negative side is facing the buttons made of rubber.
Replace the cover of the passenger's side mirror by aligning locating tabs. Once you've done that then put the fob on the driver's side back into your vehicle and test it. Press the button on the front of the key. If everything is functioning properly the parking lights will be turned on and the doors will lock.
Easy to remove

This is done by pressing the red "Fiat" button on the front of your key fob. After pressing the button an unlatching lever will be released that allows you slide out the ignition switch made of steel (1). After removing the metal key, you'll see the small silver-colored round switch that has images of a locked and unlocked padlock on top of it. This is the battery switch for the key fob. The battery is simple to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn using a small screwdriver that has a flathead.
The key fob contains the microchip that connects to the Body Control Module. When you insert your Fiat key it presses a button inside the ignition switch. This is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be able to read the transponder inside the key fob to verify that it's genuine.
